Do not let the sweetbreads fool you! They look like cute little balls of chicken kebab or something, but they are vile and intend to kill your tastebuds!

Except when they're breaded and fried. Then they're awesome.

Hey, DQ is still the best in my book. It's kinda funny that Kamran has me eating all of this stuff here, and then I go home to Ohio to visit and eat nothing but Applebee's.

But yes, sweetbreads are a cruel, cruel joke.

I plan to be tasting these things for six weeks. At least.

No one's ever said a thing about it to me. I'm guessing food blogging is so popular these days that the best restaurants are used to it, though I'd give myself funny looks, too, if I was taking photos at McDonald's. The setting at Degustation was so intimate that I asked the server if it was okay, and she said sure, as long as I didn't use a flash.

I was like, "FLASH?! Are you serious?" But I'm sure they get that sometimes. The funny thing is that asking if it was okay made me feel much more comfortable doing it. Usually, I feel like I have to sneak my camera out of my bag under the table and take pictures when everyone's backs are turned, but after admitting that I was going to do it, I felt free to take multiple shots of everything. Lesson learned.

What do you usually do?

The one thing I DON'T like about sardines is how the taste of them stays with you for at least 24 hours afterward. Did that happen to you?

My other question: do people in restaurants ever give you shit about taking pictures of your food? I'm just curious because I do it a lot, especially in fine-dining restaurants, and the reactions of the staff and other diners range wildly from "totally normal yet flattering thing to do" to "OMG WTF YOU'RE TAKING PICTURES OF FOOD?! WTF OH NOES!!1!"

Man, you're tellin' me. My life would be 100 times better if I just liked tomatoes! My boyfriend used to hate them as a kid but doesn't have much of a problem with them anymore, and he's constantly teasing me for still being a child. I try to eat them as much as I can, hoping that it's just in my mind, but I genuinely don't like the taste still. Woe is me.

The fish thing I'm slowly getting over. I grew up on a pig/cattle/sheep farm, so I was just never fed any seafood. I recognize that I don't dislike the taste of most of it–and actually enjoy some of it–so I know it's a mental thing. It's kind of interesting having had very few diverse foods as a kid, though, because it means lots of foods are still exciting and new to me as an adult.
